Our Way of Saying Thanks...

I want to make this known: we appreciate our military and first responders. My brother and I have been in law enforcement (he still is, actually), and we realize what these individuals experience everyday for little pay and even less recognition. Therefore, we are offering a continuous military and first responder discount on all of our products. All you have to do is show us a local, state, or federal government ID when you contact us about a pipe, and we'll take care of you. It's the least we can do for showing our appreciation for those who take care of us every day.Veterans can also receive the same discount. Just contact us and we'll be happy to take care of you.

Those who are eligible for the discount include:
- Any current or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces
- Police officers
- Firefighters
- Paramedics/EMT
- Correctional officers

If you don't fit the above criteria but still have a question about whether you qualify, contact us with a copy of your work ID and we'll make the decision.

In our opinion, these folks deserve to relax and enjoy some time away from the stress of their jobs. Our veterans deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labor: The freedom that they swore and sacrificed to protect. What better way to do that than with a nice pipe full of a great tobacco? Life is short...smoke up!

This is one of my new personal pipes. Greg made it. It's an amazing little smoker! I told him that I was keeping it for "quality control purposes". Greg does the majority of the drilling. He has a natural knack for alignment, and he can actually "feel" when the chamber is drilled properly. It sounds crazy, but it's true (I've watched him do it enough)! I loved the look and feel of this little pipe as soon as I saw it. I'm still breaking it in, but I can honestly say that it smokes amazingly cool for such a little pipe even when filled with a biting burley tobacco. I might need to start quality control measures more often...

Welcome!

This is the official site of Shepherd Bros. Pipe Co. We're a two-man operation located in Elk Creek, Virginia. We began laying the foundation for our pipe-making venture in the winter of 2014. We honestly had nothing other than a few sheets of sandpaper and an old, broken drill press. After investing a lot of time researching and investing what little money we had into new tools and supplies, we were able to carve out our first pipes in December, 2014.These first pipes were a bit rough around the edges (literally and figuratively), but they started up an obsession.

Let's back-track for a moment: My name is Darren, and the brother that I speak of is Greg. I work full-time for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, and my brother has a cushy state government job. We have smoked pipes on and off for years, and I began seriously collecting them over the course of the past couple of years. I got the idea to start making pipes after purchasing a pipe made by John Hines (a fellow Virginian). The pipe was wonderfully rustic, and smoked like a dream. It was also affordable, which surprised me - especially for the quality. I then befriended another fellow Virginia pipe maker named Jonathan Lavezzo, who is the mastermind behind Moonshine Pipe Company. I was amazed at his success in such a short amount of time, and I began asking him for advice. He was willing to share his knowledge with me, and that started the fire, so to speak. John Hines also coached me through my first pipes and gave me valuable "tricks of the trade" to make the learning process a bit easier for me.

Needless to say we would not have made it this far without their help, so I want to thank them publicly for their willingness to help us succeed. I would also like to note other makers, such as J.M. Boswell, Poul Winslow, Mark Tinsky, Joe Dees, Josh Whitehead, and Sabina Santos for their work and endless inspiration. Everyone that I have mentioned has an incredible gift, and their work is perfection.

So with that, I want to say thank you for visiting this site. We plan to showcase our work here, along with interesting bits and pieces of other things that we might find interesting. As things progress, we will also be holding contests and other ways of interacting with our customers and potential customers. We strive to perfect our craft, and we enjoy what we do!  Be sure to follow us on facebook at www.facebook.com/shepherdbrospipes...we'll be posting pictures and other fun things there as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at shepherdbrospipeco@gmail.com. Until next time...Happy smokes!
